Space exploration benefits essay
On July 20, 1969, the people of Earth looked up and saw the Moon in a way they had never seen it before. It was the same Moon that humans had been observing in the sky since the dawn of their existence, but on that July evening, for the first time in history, two members of their own species walked on its surface. At that time it seemed that Neil Armstrong's "giant leap for mankind" would mark the beginning of a bold new era in the exploration of other worlds by humans.

For me, this was followed by watching Comic Relief charity event in the UK on March 18 and seeing the poverty in Uganda on the TV — it was nothing short of shocking. In the same period, I was closely following NASA's MESSENGER space probe as it dropped into orbit around Mercury, the nearest planet to the sun.
This image was captured by the NASA/ESA Hubble Space Telescope's Advanced Camera for Surveys (ACS), a highly efficient wide-field camera covering the optical and near-infrared parts of the spectrum. While this lovely image.
From the dawn of man until very recently, humans have been Earthbound, unable to reach even the clouds—let alone space. It's only within the last hundred years or so that the advent of manned flight and rocket ships has made the heavens attainable. In that time, we've sent people to the moon, rovers to Mars, and space probes deep into the reaches of our solar system. And advanced telescopes that orbit Earth are bringing even the most remote edges of the universe closer to home. See where space travel started, and where it's going.
Humans have dreamed about spaceflight since antiquity. The Chinese used rockets for ceremonial and military purposes centuries ago, but only in the latter half of the 20th century were rockets developed that were powerful enough to overcome the force of gravity to reach orbital velocities that could open space to human exploration.

Many citizens of this country often wonder why our government spends millions of dollars on space exploration every year. Well, new observations and data are essential to our society to advance in the understanding of life and the possibility of life on another planet. In reality, science is the true foundation for technology and economic growth. We cannot constantly depend on current facts and knowledge; rather, we must look beyond the horizon and expand our understanding about the world around us. Yes, we have to take risks and continue to move ahead. Without space exploration, this whole planet would be in ruins because of lack of study. Imagine this world without any broadcasting systems to warn people about unfavorable weather conditions, new presidents that are elected, and even the daily news. Not only will this destroy the lives of people, but also, will not allow people to be able to communicate with others living on the other side of the globe. I am willing to share my opinion with all of you today because I believe space traveling is a requirement, and has guided us to nu.

Essay on Benefits of Space Exploration: Finding Underground Water Resources - It has long been said that the exploration of the cosmos should be secondary to the resolution of the problems on the planet Earth. However, as scientists and engineers reach further and further out into the reaches of the stars, they gain equally substantial insight into how to solve problems on Earth. Most people are ignorant to the potential gains the human race could make from exploring space. In fact, engineers have developed different ways to adapt technology from the space program to solve prevalent issues on Earth. [tags: Space Exploration Essays]

Reasons for Halting Space Exploration Essay example - On the journey to space exploration scientist should put a halt in trying to find value in other planets. Humans should not try to delve any further into space exploration, considering that they cannot take care of their own planet. With further research into the subject I was able to find sources that support putting a halt to space exploration. The research that I found was able to inform me on the excessive funds that were used for space exploration and brought no results. It also briefed me on the expedition of trying to find life on other planets that also brought no significant results. [tags: Space Exploration Essays]

Space Exploration: A Waste of Tax Revenues Essay - U.S. Federal government support of space exploration is NOT the most effective way to engage in scientific discovery Space exploration can be dated back to the age of European Renaissance, a historic age when arts and cultural transformation began. It was the same era when there gradual but widespread transition in educational reforms. Since then the flourishing art and science of stars and planets transformed in to the minute details of comets and meteors. The study, which started as the fundamental physical laws, governing the motions of planets around the sun, gave a great insight of not just our planet earth but also of millions of galaxies, which exist, in the world beyond us. Space Exploration: Not Worth the Cost Essay - The space programmes of both the USA and the USSR became perhaps the most important prestige projects of the Cold War. From the launch of Sputnik - the first artificial satellite - in 1957, through to the first human space flight by Yuri Gagarin in 1961, the first moon landing in 1969, and beyond, both superpowers invested huge amounts of money in order to outdo each other in the so-called ‘space race’. At the time, this was a convenient project to choose: while it allowed the two nations to compete in a supposedly peaceful area, proving their scientific achievements, the work on rockets also fed directly into work on the inter-continental ballistic missiles which would allow them to strike. SEDS-Saving Space Exploration Essay - SEDS-Saving Space Exploration Space exploration was once a fascinating part of human culture. Back in the 60’s, when getting to the moon was a top priority, and exploring the features of other planets interested people, the space program had the momentum to pull off bigger and better things. To explore stars not even in our galaxy and even possibly pull off the feat of discovering extraterrestrial life was something people only dreamed about. Once being only in the imagination, space travel is a reality. [tags: Space Exploration Essays]

Benefits of space exploration are many and they have contributed substantially to expand the human frontiers of science. The most important of all these benefits of space exploration is that it provided mankind with a challenge. Next, comes the knowledge that man gained out of his efforts that he made to explore the space. With the help of his spacecraft and satellites, he realized that his theories regarding the universe are true. His efforts rewarded him with his first true sighting of the glorious Earth, the Blue Planet, spinning and wobbling along her predestined path and doing her best not spill the water in her belly or lose the veil of clouds that shielded her from the harshness of the Sun. Orbiting the Earth, for the first time, he witnessed how day and night, though chasing and trying to obliterate each other, cohabits the earth peacefully, side by side, and the wonder of multiple sunrises that can only be seen from the space.
The Journey of Man from Caves to the Space
First comes the thought and then the action. Thoughts are the food for a keen, curious and developing mind. They are of vital importance as they create a trail for further accomplishments, and leave the footprints of achievements behind as milestones for guiding the others. The space exploration started when man tried to judge whether the stars that rise in the sky after the Sun sets, are accomplices of the bogyman, who, as claimed by the granny, comes quietly in the dark of night to take the naughty children away or are just what they appear to be; distant shiny objects that are themselves afraid of daylight. His curiosity about the stars was realized as the space exploration benefits in the form of astronomy and navigation of the oceans. When the man set out to explore his own world, these very stars acted as the beacons, the torch bearers for man while he was being tossed on the high seas in his ships that were no bigger than the extended bathtubs, and the water around him, stretched depressingly, from horizon to horizon.
Next, came the theories and the hypotheses about the planets, the sun and universe, which you could count as the benefits of space exploration. What these bodies in the sky are made of and who makes them work? Using these wisps of thoughts to overcome the limits of the gravity of the Earth, man tried to explain, with the aid of telescopes, the existence of universe, planets, the Sun, the moon and ultimately, his own.
The study of the Sun, a star, made him realize that nuclear energy can be a resource, too. Thus, mankind reaped another benefit of the space exploration in the form of a clue to search for a new energy source, that no one has used before.
In 1945, Sir Arthur C. Clarke propagated the idea of satellite communication and then, at last, man found the long awaited reason to leave the Earth. The space exploration moved out of the confines of the cranium to the drawing board which ultimately resulted in blasting of rockets and spaceships such as Apollo-13 towards the planets.
Space shuttle launch realized the chance for a common man to go on a space travel. NASA and the rest of the agencies involved in space exploration launched many spacecraft to explore our solar system. These also include space probes -- robotic, unmanned relatives of rockets and space shuttles. Several countries have released space probes to the moon, to other planets, into interplanetray space and even to the edge of the solar system.
Benefits of Space Exploration to MankindThere are critics who disagree with the expenditure on space exploration, which they claim can better be used to solve earthly problems. However, they seem to forget that this is one of the fields which tests a man's intellect. But, how does a common man draw benefits of space exploration? The advances made in field of space exploration can be well used in other fields such as medicine, agriculture, etc. The following is the list of benefits of space exploration to mankind:

Program should be privatized. When these programs are not linked to government..things seem to run much smoother and CHEAPER. Nothing listed by Kanade convinces me of any real day to day benefits to mankind. GPS. satellites. all these can be done without the dollars we've been spending on space stations etc. We have discovered a planet 600 light years away and yet we still cannot reach and explore the deepest parts of earth's ocean. Space exploration began as a race with the Russians. especially our trip to the moon just to get there first. Well what the hell have we done since we landed on the moon? Seems there should be research stations on the moon by now. We simply landed on the moon, beat our chests and moved on to something else.
